Cafe de los Angelitos-El Tango©:

The historical Cafe de los Angelitos has reopened the 19 of June 2007 as Cena & Tango Show after being closed many years.

Nicole Nau & Luis Pereyra are chosen as artistic directors. The show is classic, elegant and authentic. Far away from clichés. Luis Pereyra is the author of this peace. Together with the stage and light designer Victor Tela they designed a beautiful work.

Historical views:

It was in the Café de los Angelitos where one night of 1917, Mauricio Goddart, Artistic Director for Odeón, signed up already famous duet Gardel-Razzano, which then debuted for Odeón on the record with Cantar eterno y El sol del 25. It was also where Gardel, celebrating one of the victories of his horse, Lunatico, had the beef stew served up until the early hours of the morning.

The Café started to function in 1890, as "Bar Rivadavia". It was a single story building consisting of an earth floor, the refuge for the those who in that era already listened to the "payadas" (folk songs) of Gabino Ezeiza and José Betinotti. Only in 1920 it changed its name to "Café de los Angelitos", after the Spaniard Angel Salgueiro bought the place, had it fixed up and as a decoration used angels made of plaster. Located a block away from the old Spinetto market, the Café soon became the gathering spot for the "tangueros" (tango artists), Carlos Gardel and José Razzano, the comedians, Florencio Parravicini and Roberto Cassaux and actor Elías Alippi. It was also the favourite of the Buenos Aires politicians such as Juan B. Justo and Alfredo Palacios.

The house has been closed in 1992 and rebuild in between the original architecture. This is the theatre today
