El Sonido de mi Tierra - Personalisimo 2005

The Show from Nicole Nau & Luis Pereyra / Teatro Margarita Xirgu

"El Sonido de mi Tierra- Personalisimo©

2005"  by Nicole Nau & Luis Pereyra. In 2006 the Tango stars Nicole Nau and Luis Pereyra will come to Europe with their new show. El Sonido de mi Tierra is a virtuous presentation of the Tango including all facets of the dance and a poetic declaration of love towards Argentina.

Guest musician was first Luis Borda, than Julio Urruty and last Quique Ponce (BandoneĂłn and vocals). Star choreographer Julio Lopez arranged the dramaturgy. During their tour in 2005 the couple enthused their large audience throughout Germany. Depicted on numerous Argentinean stamps, Nicole Nau has been literally awarded by the statement of Argentina’s former head of state Carlos Menem calling her the “best female Tango dancer”.

For five years now she has been working together with Luis Pereyra, an extraordinary and miscellaneous dancer and choreographer, who perambulated the entire world with well known Tango ensembles.

Press commentary:

“stunningly fast, with rotations, that makes the spectator’s head spin. “

Frankfurter Rundschau, August 2005

“…the concentration was absolutely bound to the artists on stage… the joie de vivre, the overwhelming power, die danced seduction and the sense for the body. Perfect costuming: provocative and elegant.”

Rheinische Post, Mai 2005

“Unlike performances as “Riverdance” or “Lord of the Dance” El Sonido de mi Tierra (Sound of my Earth) profits from the artist’s mastery than the attraction provoked by the monumental. It was fascinating to watch how Nau and Pereyra delivered an impressive sample of their virtuoso way to dance by constantly changing between contiguousness and distance.

Solemnly Motion was the medium apparently reflecting every state of a deep romance. The dramatic advisor Julio LĂłpez succeeded in telling the story of Tango as a Gesamtkunstwerk merging the interplay between acrobatics and power on the one hand and concinnity on the other. Why Andrew Lloyed Webber let ChĂ© and Evita dance, of all dances, a waltz is incomprehensible given the situation. El Sonido de mi Tierra on the contrary was an impassionate commitment to a form of dance that debauches with great emotions and original erotics – without falling victim to the clichĂ© of today’s pop culture Latino hype.”
